Barceloooooooona!

Who remembers the 1992 Olympic Games? Well I do, and what I remembered the most about those games was the inauguration ceremony. Besides the homonymous song by Freddie mercury and Montserrat Caballe, there hasn't been another lighting of the olympic cauldron like the one in Barcelona (If you haven't seen it, I do not want to spoil it for you, but go check a video in youtube). Ever since 1992 I knew I had to walk the streets of Barcelona, and indeed this was our port of entry in our trip to Spain (check the link for the full Spain itinerary).
We spend our first and last two nights of our Spanish trip in this city. On that first day we concentrated mostly in the Gothic Quarter and sampling the markets. Towards the end of the trip, we focused on the beautiful architecture of Barcelona and used the city as base to visit Montserrat (which I highly recommend if you love unique landscapes).
I haven't met one single person that has visited Barcelona and has not said how beautiful this city is. I know I cannot go wrong by recommending this destination.
