From Madrid...

"De Madrid al Cielo" (From Madrid to Heaven): that's a saying I had been hearing since I was a little kid, and as soon as I step foot in this city I understood how true it is. Madrid is so fascinating that I cannot justify describe it in a page. You have to visit and see for yourself. This itinerary is great for that first visit to Spain's capital city, but there are so many other gems in Madrid that you shouldn't be surprised if, in the future, you see another itinerary of a second visit of mine.

We used Madrid as base to visit other cities in the surrounding that shouldn't be missed either: Toledo, for the art of El Greco and the medieval arms; Avila, for the "yemas" (a dessert) of Santa Teresa and the preserved city wall; and Segovia, with the aqueduct, the storybook Alcazar, and the food, oh the food: Segovia has one of the best cuisines of Spain.
