Spring in September

As the temperature in Florida didn't see to want to go down at any point in September, and my family was needing some low-budget vacation, we went ahead and planned a trip to Central Florida, just hours from home. The plan was to take advantage of the Labor Day long weekend, driving relatively close to home, going to a destination that was new for us, and most importantly, do not spend a lot of money. Hence, the winner location was Kelly Springs/Rock River Run, a natural lazy river in Central Florida! Since we were going to be in the area, we also visited Alexander Spring (one of the many natural springs in the state), Mount Dora (a quaint town with lots of novelty shops and a brewery), and 4 eateries that have been featured in "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" (I am a fan!). So, if you plan to be in Florida when the heat is on and do not feel like spending a ton of cash, here is a good alternative for a family vacation.
